SPRING CLEAN-UP

May 15, 2018
Summary:

SPRING CLEAN-UP

The Village of Lowville Department of Public Works would like to announce that it will be conducting Spring Clean-Up beginning May 1, 2017, and ending May 25, 2017.  During this period, the Public Works Department will be picking up tree limbs, brush, leaves, and general yard debris that is placed at the curbside. The piles must be placed between the sidewalk and the street so that the equipment used can reach the material.  Do not place your debris in the street.

Please take note that only reasonably sized piles resulting from general winter damage and normal yard clean-up will be picked up by village crews.  Large piles resulting from the removal of trees, hedgerows and such by property owners will not be picked up by village crews.  Residents must make private arrangements to have these types of wastes removed from their property.

Please be sure that all piles of limbs, debris, brush, etc. are individually sorted.  Piles that are mixed together will not be picked up.

Please note that the Public Works Department has constructed debris disposal areas at our Sewage Treatment Plant outside the fence.  Residents may transport their own limbs, debris, leaves, brush, etc. to the Village Sewage Treatment Plant located on East State Street in the Village if they desire.  This may be done anytime during daylight hours during the spring and summer months.  There are signs located along the entrance drive to the Treatment Plant to direct residents to the disposal areas for such wastes at the plant.  This was created as a service to VILLAGE RESIDENTS ONLY.  Commercial tree removal and/or landscaping professionals should find alternative locations to discard their debris.

Please do not place piles of limbs, debris, leaves, brush, etc. in the streets; doing so poses a serious safety hazard to motorists and pedestrians as well as acting to plug up the drainage inlets during rainstorms.

The Public Works Department wishes to thank you in advance for your full cooperation in this matter.  It is only through your cooperation that we will continue these services.
